Rizo Desserts now has 4 plant-based (aka Vegan, aka lactose-free) hospital desserts options in their current range. A favourite is the Chocolate Coconut Custard but we also have a Tropical Punch Cream with a zing that cuts through your ageing tastebuds:)
Just being trialled is a Vanilla Coconut Custard which can be ordered by arrangement and, of course, we have a Vegan Mango Jelly for the clear fluid diets.
With rising dairy prices (finally good for the Australian Dairy Farmer) it might be time to consider the qualities of having some plant-based dessert options. The coconut-milk base gives a lovely side note to these desserts and an entirely different mouth-feel to dairy. The consistency is great for texture modified diets and they are free of the Top 10 allergens so excellent and safe for many menu choices.
And, of course, one should also consider the environmental impact by going plant based.
