Victoria’s Updated Nutritional Band Standards

Victoria’s updated Nutrition and Food Quality Standards for Health Services have introduced significant changes to Nutritional Band Levels, particularly for desserts.

What was previously classified as Band 1 is now Band 2 and vice versa. The new Band 1 standard requires a minimum of 5 grams of protein per serve, reflecting a stronger emphasis on nutritional support for patients and aged care residents.

In response, Rizo Desserts has increased protein levels to 5 grams per serve across all dairy and plant-based desserts, ensuring compliance with both Band 1 and Band 2 requirements. This adjustment supports better recovery outcomes and aligns with the strengthened standards for healthcare nutrition.

While jellies remain outside this protein target due to their formulation, all other Rizo desserts are fortified with a minimum of 200mg calcium per serve, contributing to bone health and overall dietary adequacy. These enhancements reflect Rizo’s commitment to:

  • Supporting IDDSI Level 4 texture-modified diets.
  • Meeting FSANZ allergen-free standards.
  • Aligning with Aged Care Quality Standards and NSQHS accreditation requirements.
